Bullet points

  • The weather here has been kinda crazy.  80's Saturday, then snowing Sunday afternoon.  And I never knew how windy it was here.  Still pretty nice weather as a whole, just big swings at times.
  • I fell off my mountain bike on Saturday and managed to fall with my lower right abdomen straight on my handlebar.  I'm not sure how I did this, but I did.  And it hurt.  My first thought was that I had internal injuries because it really hurt!  I biked the 1 hour+ home and even stopped to talk to a couple teammates I saw on the trail. So probably no internal injuries.
  • Where I hit my abdomen swelled up a lot and stayed that way for a few days.  The swelling is just sort of going away now.  I have some pain when I run, especially when I run hard, so I'll probably wait on doing a 5k for another weekend.
  • I had a really good moment early on in the ride though.  There's a really tight turn that goes down hill into the turn, a hairpin turn and then up a steep hill.  I've never made it without having to dismount my bike.  I finally made it on Saturday, and even said outloud "I did it!" to myself. It feels really good to conquer something that I've been trying to do for a few weeks now.
  • So, even though I fall and get hurt, I like mountain biking and am going to stick with it.  I like being on the trails and challenging myself.  I have a lot to learn and know that if you want to learn something or be successful at something, you have to accept that failure is a possibility and that it is ok to fail.
  • Adam took the dogs to the dog park today and apparently Frito caught and killed a squirrel.  At first the thought of it sickened me, but I know it must have been a joyful moment for Frito
  • Speaking of Frito, he has had a long past of bladder infections and "accidents".  Lately he has been leaking a little for lack of a better word.  It's not a bladder infection this time--Frito will be on medicine for urinary incontinence for the rest of his life.  Poor Frito.

Oh poor Frito! Roxy catches and kills things too. Major gross, but you are right - that is what they were meant to do!

I am so impressed with the mt biking Maija! It takes a lot of courage to take up something so difficult. In short time you are going to be telling us of all the tricks you can do!! FUN!!! :)

the first time Harley caught a bird and dropped it at my feet I freaked out. Springer is really really good at catching them and as sad as it sounds, it's sort of cool to watch, she's so graceful. She never kills it because I usually get it away from her.
