I did my first track workout of the year today. I've been on the track this year, but just doing strides and what not. My first goal race is not until mid July, so I feel a little behind the curve in terms of my speed and all. I'm not used to having my first goal race of the year so late.
The weather was weird today, it seems to be weird often here. It had been raining and windy all night and I expected it to continue to rain and be windy. I'm driving to the pool in the morning and it looks like its snow and not rain. Since I was tired, I thought maybe I was seeing things. Once I started swimming the snow got heavier. Then it stopped and went back to rain when I drove to work.
Back to track, it was colder than I expected and windy (of course) but I headed out to do a track workout. Once I got to the gym I realized I had forgot gloves, a headband for my ears, socks, and most importantly, my sports bra. I headed out for my run anyway. After a swim only day on Wednesday, my legs were feeling great on the warmup. I got to the repeats and felt good at first, but definitely not as speedy as I would like. Normal for a first track workout. On my last 4 repeats the sun started coming out a little, and steam started rising off the track. It was a cool sight.
I'm definitely looking forward to the track workouts getting faster and longer.
Rain
Everywhere else I've every lived rain is a pretty regular thing. It started raining last night and as we listened to the sound of the rain on the roof, we realized it was the first time in a long time that we had heard that sound. I miss rain and how green it makes things. I love going running in the rain. I love hearing the sound of it. I also miss not having a $100 water bill.
Round Valley
Adam and I were looking through some pictures last night and when we looked through a photo album from Round Valley State Park, I really started to miss the place. It really is a great park and I was so lucky to have it so close to me for so long. I loved running there, biking the loop around the park, taking Cooper there to swim. I even started contemplating flying there and racing the Xterra at Round Valley in May, but then realized it is a bit expensive to fly out there and is a long trip. It would be funny though, if I lived there for 6 years and never raced it and raced in it now that I have moved 2 times zones away.

I am glad you've noticed how bizarre the weather is here :) And no, it NEVER rains! The other day my mom and I were talking and trying to think of the last time, which was last June. Strange!
Glad to hear your training is going well!
Track workouts are tough but awesome.
yay for track but boo for rain :(
