We decided to name the dog Mickey. As in Mickey Mouse for his big ears. I was looking at him yesterday and what looked like it might be a a border collie/lab/pit bull mix, looks like it may be a border collie/lab/great dane mix. Just based off my experience from petting every dog I see. He is 8 months or so, so he can't get that much bigger. Can he? He is a sweet little guy, but he definitely was not house trained like the people who gave him up said he was. That is the difference between getting a dog from a rescue place and from an owner surrender. A rescue organization tells you the truth, an owner that is looking to get rid of a dog...not so much. But he's a young dog and he will learn. He and Cooper have become best buddies. Cooper doesn't quite have his energy, but he digs deep and finds the energy to tug, wrestle, fetch and chase. Cooper really is fast--even in his old age he can out sprint a puppy. Micky just head butts him to get him to drop the ball or takes it out of his mouth.
I took it pretty easy this week. It took awhile for em to stop feeling the effects of the cold. When I push myself when I have a cold, I have had a tendency in the past to get bronchitis, so I really was cautious.
I was almost solely running for a few weeks and I started to miss the variety. The training plan I was on was not incorporating any cross training, and I like cross training and feel better doing it. So, I took a step back and thought about what it is that I really want to do and what I want to accomplish. The problem is, there are a lot of things I want to so and accomplish, and I can't do all of them and be as successful as I want to be. I could do all of them and do them all halfway, and then be dissatisfied with my performance. Or I could pick and choose and focus. So, I'm now in the pick and choose stage. I have a whole list of races I want to do. Now, I just need to narrow it down to what is important and what optimizes my goals.
So, the list of races I want to do next year that needs to be trimmed down or maybe some different races shuffled in:
Phoenix Rock and Roll Half Marathon
Xterra West Championship - Lake Las Vegas April
Littlefoot Triathlon May
Xterra Four Corners June
Xterra Deuces Wild June
Loveland Lake to Lake Triathlon June
Boulder Peak Triathlon July
Xterra Beaver Creek July
Xterra Indian Peaks August
Rattlesnake Tri August
USAT Nationals-Burlington, VT August
Xterra Lory August
Xterra Nationals September
Xterra World Championships October
Obviously August is the heaviest and needs the most trimming...

I love the name!!! Hopefully he gets house trained soon. :)
I know what you mean about having so many good options and wanting to do it all. I see a race and I'm like "oh, I definitely want to do that!!" and by the end my list of want to do races is sooooooo long. Oh well, I guess that just means we are going to be in this sport for a long time. :) Hope you are back to feeling 100% soon! :)
Nice race schedule! Are most of the Xterra races out west? I only know of the one up in Lake Placid on the east coast.
