early swim, weather, and dogs

I finally got up in time for the 5:15 am masters swim. It certainly helped that the clocks changed yesterday so it sort of felt like 6:15 am instead. Sort of. I have so much work to do. I got in what I think was the slowest (or one of the slowest) of 6(?) lanes and was the slowest one in it. Yikes! My intervals were on the 1:40 to 1:50 (swim +rest) and I was definitely struggling. Hopefully with a few weeks of consistency, I'll move up to the next faster lane and take 5-10 seconds off my interval, and then work on moving up lanes and speeds from there.

I'm happy I went. Now that I finally got up and went it will be a lot easier. But man I was so tired all day! I'm not used to swimming at all and definitely not used to getting up early.

It has been so warm here but I guess it is going to come to an end. 40's and maybe colder this week with a couple days of possible snow. I got out to bike yesterday and it was sunny when I left but when I got out towards the mountains it got cloudy and really windy. I was going downhill and only hitting 11-15 mph at times when I would normally go 25-30+. I ended up riding 50 mins out and 40 mins back, slow on the way out partially from the wind and partially from climbing.

Mickey is getting bigger everyday. I weighed him on Saturday and he was 36 lbs. I think he is going to end up being bigger than Cooper and Frito. But I guess we will see. He and Frito share a taste for garbage. After we went to the grocery store last night we returned to find Frito and Mickey had eaten/torn up some tissues and Halloween candy wrappers. And ironically, Cooper doesn't eat garbage, but Cooper did throw up while they were eating the garbage. The drama/excitement/barking perhaps.

Great job for getting to masters! That is always hard to get up for (especially when it's cold outside and your bed is warm!) but I've never regretted going - I only regret staying in bed. Most definitely worth it! :)

Poor Cooper...
