Adjusting

It's been 8 days since we arrived in Colorado. It's sort of starting to feel like home and still an adjustment. I still haven't quite gotten into a routine. I started work on Monday, which certainly helped establish some sort of a daily routine. But...

The moving truck arrived after 9 pm on Sunday night. Seriously! I was so happy to finally have a real bed to sleep in, more than just a couple changes of clothes, real dishes, and all that other good stuff that comes in the moving truck, but the timing could have been a little better. I was pretty exhausted after staying up past midnight waiting for everything to be unloaded. But at least it was another important step towards settling in.

Of course with work all week, I haven't had much of a chance to unpack. Adam has been stuck doing most of it, which he predicted. Things are still a little out of sorts, but it's getting there. I'll be glad when the house is fully done with all the boxes unpacked and all the pictures hung and furniture in all the rooms. This house is a little too big compared to the old one, so let's just say the dogs have a lot of room to run around right now :)

I haven't been biking and swimming much, but I have been enjoying running here and have been doing some much needed strength training at the gym too. Almost every day I've run different directions on different trails. I'm sure I'll run out of different places to run soon, but so far, I'm having fun exploring. I've only been out biking 2x, and they have just been easy spins around the neighborhood with Adam. No crazy climbing in the mountains yet. For now I'm enjoying running and am thinking about signing up for a race or two in November once I've adjusted to the altitude a bit more.

I'm looking forward to getting settled and unpacked more and exploring everything around here.

A few more things to note because I was thinking about them

-In the middle of the night last night, there was this really loud screeching noise that woke us up. It continued and got louder and then dogs started barking. It was so loud and sounded horrible! No one else in the neighborhood even turned their lights on, like it was no big deal! Adam called the police and they told them it was probably foxes or coyotes and it was just nature taking it's course. So much for peace and quiet backing to an open space.

-Coopy was really itcy for a few days. I think the dry air, too much sun, baths, and bugs all got to him. Poor little guy, he is now using moisturizing cream.

-Even though I have no desire to ever race an Ironman or Ironman Hawaii, I can't help but get excited for the coverage and for all the people racing this weekend

-I still can't get over the views of the mountains here!

-Coopy and Frito eat a lot more here/eat their food faster/seem hungrier here

-I am not as hungry here

Sounds like you are getting all settled in! Awesome!! It won't be long before you are all set up and into a great routine - just in time for me to visit. ;) Have fun decorating the house! And hope Cooper becomes un-itchy soon! :)

The screeching coyotes or foxes are hilarious - and you probably won't even notice them soon. We live near a train and I swear the loudest it ever was, was the first day we moved in :)

Things sound like they're falling into place. Those screetching noises sound interesting. And, speaking of itches, I'm sure it'll just be a matter of time before you get the itch to qualify for Kona.

Actually Oscar, I've already pondered the Kona qualifying thing and moved right those crazy thoughts. It doesn't mean I don't want to be Hawaii next October...just a little later and in a different race on a different island.
