Doggies, Buffalo, and Dead Legs

Intervals for Monday's bike ride were interrupted to take pictures and look at the Buffalo. Look! We have buffalo! In NJ!

Anyway, I have some muscle fatigue understandably. My weekly volume basically doubled. So, I took yesterday off on my own decision. Cause I was tired and achy and rest is important. I went to bed at 9:30 and I set my alarm for 5:00 am. I thought. I woke up at 7:20. I must have turned off the alarm again! Nope, I set it for 9:00 am. What?

So I swam yesterdays swim after work. I must have been having brain issues cause I had trouble remembering or figuring out times, which rarely happens.
4x25 w/:10 rest, first easy to hard, then hard to easy, then easy, then hard
50 hard
300 pull breathe every 5
4x50 on 1:10 descending
100 easy kick
300 pull breathe every 5
4x25 on :30
right to 200 hard
50-easy back/breast
4x50 w/ :10 rest hard
50 easy-back/breast
4x25 w/ :10 rest
50 easy-back/breast
50 hard
200 cooldown
2050 total
felt like a slug

I got out for a run by 8pm. I had no motivation to go, but once I was out there I felt good except my legs each felt like a ton. Heavy tired legs. I did a 12 min warmup, then 5x3 mins hard, 3 mins easy, then a short cooldown for 42.5 mins total. Frito was not a good running partner today! He wanted to pee on everything, sniff everything, stalk birds, roll in goose poop. Usually he is better but he was having a wild day. I'm glad I got out there even though my legs were tired. Sometimes, you just have to train through the fatigue.

Below are some pics that Matt took on Memorial Day of the dogs. He took several more, but I am tired and am only putting up 4 for today. They are proudly showing off their SwimBarkRun collars from athlete3.com.

Of course you will feel tired when your volume increases considerably. Good job on all the training. The doggies are gorgeous.

Way to get through the training and tough it out when you need to but also not be afraid to rest when you need to also. THat is the sign of a great athlete! You're doing awesome Maija!
